Dr Abdul Basit

Dr Abdul Basit is an Associate Director in Charles River Laboratories’ Discovery Bioanalysis group in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He leads large molecule bioanalysis using state-of-the-art mass spectrometry, supporting emerging therapeutic modalities such as oligonucleotides, peptides, monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates and endogenous metabolites through advanced omics technologies.

With more than 17 years of experience spanning academia and industry, Dr Basit has held roles of increasing responsibility in drug discovery and development. Prior to joining Charles River in 2021, he served as a Research Assistant Professor at Washington State University and as a Senior Fellow and Technical Director for quantitative proteomics and metabolomics at the University of Washington. He also brings early career industry experience in in vitro DMPK and bioanalysis from Sai Life Sciences and Vanta Bioscience in India.

Dr Basit earned his BPharm from the University of Pune, India and an MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences from NIPER, India. He completed his PhD in Drug Discovery at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in collaboration with the University of Genoa, Italy. He has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed publications and over 35 conference abstracts, contributed to a book chapter and is a co-inventor on two US patents.
