Luca Lotta
Luca Lotta, MD, PhD, is Vice President and Chief Translational Genetics Officer at the Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC), where he leads efforts to translate large-scale human genetics into therapeutic target identification and validation, and to accelerate preclinical and clinical development programmes.
His work focuses on using population-scale genomic and health data to identify and validate drug targets across therapeutic areas. He has been involved in advancing the integration of human genetics into clinical research and drug development.
Lotta has led RGC teams that identified protective mutations in GPR75 associated with reduced risk of obesity, mutations in INHBE associated with favourable fat distribution and protection from diabetes, and mutations in CIDEB associated with protection from liver disease.
At Regeneron, he has also contributed to cross-functional initiatives that have resulted in more than 40 therapeutic development programmes.
