Professor Joseph C. Wu, MD, PhD, is Director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute and Simon H. Stertzer Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Stanford University. His research focuses on stem cells, organoids, genomics, AI and drug discovery, with an emphasis on developing more predictive, human-relevant models for biomedical research. His laboratory combines stem cell biology, CRISPR-based functional genomics, multi-omics and AI to accelerate drug discovery, advance precision medicine and develop the ‘clinical trial in a dish’ concept.

Professor Wu has published more than 700 peer-reviewed papers and has been recognised as one of the world’s most highly cited researchers for eight consecutive years, with an H-index of 156. He is the current President of the Association of University Cardiologists (AUC), past President of the American Heart Association (AHA) and co-founder of Greenstone Biosciences, which applies clinical genomics, stem cells, organoids and AI to advance drug discovery.
