Dr Roland Bürli

Dr Roland Bürli is Chief Scientific Officer at Scenic Biotech, where he leads the discovery and development of novel therapies for neurometabolic and neurodegenerative diseases. A trained medicinal chemist, he has more than 27 years of drug discovery experience across different therapeutic areas. Prior to joining Scenic Biotech, he held leadership roles in biotechnology and large pharmaceutical companies, including Cerevance (UK), AstraZeneca (UK) and Amgen (USA). Much of Dr Bürli’s work over the past 20 years has focused on CNS drug discovery, where his team advanced several small molecules into clinical studies.

Dr Bürli studied chemistry and completed his doctorate at ETH Zürich and was a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech in Pasadena. He has co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and patents.
